Taupo NZ supersprint historic GP

Saturday

Adam and I went to Taupo on Saturday to the Taupo Motorsports Park, to watch the latest round of the Castrol Toyota Formula Regional Oceania Championship. Gosh, thats a mouthful.

We drove down in the morning, arriving around 10 am, and found a great park on the embankment at the 150m mark on the end of the back straight, so we could see the cars at their full speed and then braking hard. Watched a little there, before leaving the car for a bit and checking out the pit area, and stadium, looking through all the cars competing and grabbing some food. Great atmosphere, and loads of nice people.

We then went back over to where the car was and watched the rest of the day’s racing, seeing a few spins, some wet weather action and some good racing.

Heading home one the racing was all done.

Taupo put on a great event, commentary was easy to hear, I think I’d take a seat and a small pop-up gazebo next time, but we were happy enough to sit in the car when done standing. as our park was right beside the track.

Very enjoyable, would definitely go again.
